The Bethel School District is excited to announce the launch of our Summer Reading Program for the upcoming summer. We are seeking passionate and dedicated classroom teachers to join our team for this special initiative. This program is designed to offer an enriching reading experience to students in grades K-2, focusing on developing their reading skills through explicit and systematic instruction.

 

Program Details:

  • Program Dates: June 24th to August 8th
  • Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver explicit and systematic reading instruction tailored to students in grades K-2 using district approved curriculum and material.
  • Address both word recognition and language comprehension components of reading to ensure a structured approach to literacy.
  • Engage students in activities that promote reading proficiency and a love for reading.
  • Monitor and assess student progress and tailor instruction to meet individual needs, incorporating culturally responsive teaching practices to ensure an inclusive and affirming learning environment for all students.
  • Collaborate with program administration, and fellow teachers/EAs to share resources, strategies, and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Valid teaching certificate/license.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching reading or literacy, with a strong understanding of the science of reading.
  • Ability to implement explicit and systematic instruction in reading.
  • Commitment to working the full duration of the summer program.

Compensation:

  • $40.00 per hour or per diem
