Bethel School District is seeking qualified applicants for a 4-6 hour per day Nutrition Services Worker for the Nutrition Services program. There are multiple positions available.

Nature of Work

A Nutrition Services Worker I is responsible for assisting with the operation of a food preparation and service unit by performing a variety of tasks such as preparing menu items, baking, serving, cashiering, dishwashing, directing student helpers, stocking and shelving, wet mopping, sweeping, and general kitchen clean-up after meals are served. Menu items are generally prepared based on established USDA standards on nutritional content and serving quantities. Employees may be assigned to a specific work area, such as food preparation, serving, or dishwashing. After an initial orientation, however, an employee may be required to substitute in a different work area than usually assigned. Work may also involve the safe operation and use of a dishwasher, garbage disposal, stove, oven, proofer,  steam table, slicer, mixer, grader and other electrical or mechanical nutrition service equipment.

These duties are illustrative only. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervision

Daily assignments and oral instructions are provided by a Nutrition Service Coordinator. General supervision is provided by the Nutrition Services Manager who reviews the work for the quality of service provided, sanitary conditions of the work areas, and the safe operation of nutrition service equipment.

       

Selection Factors

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or the equivalent. Any combination of experience and training that demonstrates possession of the requisite abilities. Any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may be substituted for the required experience. 

 

Upon offer of employment applicants must obtain a fingerprint clearance from the Oregon Department of Education through a process authorized by the Bethel School District. Applicants would be responsible for the one-time fingerprint clearance fee.

       

Special Requirements

Possession or ability to obtain an Oregon Food Handlers Card within six weeks after starting work.
